It's almost time to celebrate NYC Pride March, the biggest pride parade in North America. The parade is scheduled to happen on June 26, 2022, but multiple Pride events will be happening in New York City over the month. And your pet can also join the party!

Are dogs allowed at the NYC Pride Parade?

The answer is yes! The NYC Pride March is a dog-friendly event! This year, the parade will start the route at 26th Street and 5th Avenue at 12:00 PM EST and end the march in front of the Stonewall Inn at Christopher Street. But if you're planning to take your dog with you, there are a few things you need to watch out for.

How to keep your dog safe at the NYC Pride March?

  • The first rule: make sure to microchip your dog to avoid major issues after.

  • The parade attracts millions of people every year. It's a really busy crowd. So make sure that your puppy is comfortable with the environment and the loud noise.

  • It's important to pay attention to what your doggy is chewing in the streets. Make sure they know commands like "drop it" and "leave it". A retractable leash might not be the best choice for the event. You want to keep them close to you.

  • There will be other dogs at the march. If your dog doesn't get along with others, maybe it's better to let them at home.

  • It's always sunny and hot during Pride in New York City. Check the temperature before leaving home. It's not recommended to stay with your puppy outside for too long if temperatures are above 75 degrees.

  • Last and least, don't forget to bring water, some delicious snacks (we highly recommend the Amazing Dog Treats), and poop bags!
