Madonna will perform at NYC Pride 2022

Updated on Jun 23, 2022

Madonna will appear alongside several drag queens at Terminal 5 as the headliner of “WoW, Finally Enough Love”, this Thursday (June 23). The event will be part of the weekend of celebrations of the New York City Pride March in 2022.

The show will be hosted by World of Women NFT, a group of female digital artists that celebrates representation, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all. The bad part? Unfortunately, tickets for the event are sold out. “We’re hosting 2 events at NFT NYC and have teamed up with @tokenproof to securely issue tickets for all of our holders”, they announced on Twitter

RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Violet Chachki and Bob the Drag Queen will also perform at the event

Madonna posted videos of the rehearsal on her Instagram and on TikTok this Thursday, June 23, confirming her performance.

During a live on TikTok with producer Sickick in May, Madonna first revealed her plans for two concerts on June 23 and 24.

Also during the live, Madonna invited Sickick to join her during the performance and they both talked about performing their remix of Frozen

In 2019, Madonna did a 30-minute concert on Pier 97 in Manhattan, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. In 2021, she made a surprise appearance at Le Bain, the rooftop bar on top of the Standard Hotel, where she performed “Hung Up” and “I Don’t Search I Find”.

Madonna has been an ally to the LGBTQ+ Community for decades. Back in the ‘80s, Madonna was one of the first celebrities to speak out against the lack of help by the government to those affected by the AIDS crisis. In 1992, she released a song dedicated to one of her best friends who died of AIDS. In 1999, she took a group of drag queens to the MTV Video Music Awards when drag art was still marginalized. During the 2000s, Madonna traveled to countries where homosexuality is still criminalized, such as Russia, and used her voice to speak out against homophobia. In 2013, the queen of pop showed up at the GLAAD Awards dressed as a Boy Scout to protest the Boy Scouts’ homophobic membership ideals.

Speaking of Madonna, the queen was one of the few guests at Britney Spears' wedding that happened this Thursday, June 9th. They even recreated the iconic kiss from the VMAs 2001. Check out some pictures!
