Trixie Motel on Discovery Plus is great television; you should watch it!
Following her mission of becoming the drag queen with most jobs in the world, Trixie Mattel just started a new business/television show. The Drag Race superstar, who recently released her second book collab with Katya, with whom she is currently touring the world while promoting her own makeup line Trixie Cosmetics, is the star of the show Trixie Motel, streaming now on Discovery Plus.
The show follows Trixie and her partner, David Silver, attempting to renovate a motel in Palm Springs, California, with the help of designer Dani Dazey and some very special guests. Think of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition meets Real Housewives, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Parks and Recreation. It’s just great television!
Before opening the motel on time for Pride, Trixie and David had to renovate 7 different rooms and the common areas of the establishment. At the end of every episode, we get introduced to a completely kitschy renovated room - each one of them has a different theme, including the Atomic Bombshell Room and the Flower Power Suite.
To achieve her goals at the motel, Trixie gets construction advice from Lisa Vanderpump, paints a mural with Nicole Byer, produces a photoshoot with Mo Heart, and wrecks walls with Orville Peck. Katya, Zooey Deschanel, Property Brother Jonathan Scott, Leslie Jordan, and Iggy Azalea are also featured in the show.
Trixie’s charisma should come with no surprise to viewers. She has always been one of RuPaul’s Drag Race fans' favorites for a reason. But in Trixie Motel, we get to meet more about her partner, David, who is also great with cameras. The show is incredibly well-edited and scripted, keeping the audience interested from beginning to end - shout-out to the team behind the cameras! Trixie Motel is the perfect queer entertainment - campy, and fun to watch.
Is Trixie Motel open?
Trixie Motel opened for special guests in June 2022, but it will be officially open for business on Labor Day, September 5. You can already plan your trip and book one of its incredible seven rooms.
